Drive to Cure MND 2019 will involve 200 people in cars, trucks, motorhomes and on motorbikes travelling from Brisbane to Goondiwindi over the May Day weekend raising awareness and funds to find a cure for MND.
Friday 3 May
- 9am depart MND Centre at Coorparoo
- 12pm – Lunch and mixed farming and Landcare Tour, Millmerran
- 2pm – Depart for Goondiwindi
- 6pm – Dinner and Trivia night at Queensland Hotel
Saturday 4 May
- 9am depart for day tours to either Inglewood or Texas tour.
- 1 – 3.30pm return to Goondiwindi
- 4.30pm – Goondiwindi Show and Rodeo
Sunday 5 May
- 9am depart for day tours to either Inglewood, Texas or Cotton Farm tour.
- 1 – 3.30pm return to Goondiwindi
- 4.30pm – Bare Foot Bowls and Goondiwindi Bowls Club
- 6pm – BBQ Dinner, Presentations and Raffle Draw at Goondiwindi Bowls Club.
Monday 6 May
- 9.00am – Depart Goondiwindi
- 9.30am – Carpendale Grain Farm and Storage Compound Tour
- 11.00am – Participants return to Brisbane in own time
Fundraising for the Drive will be done by setting up an Everyday Hero page for your team.
Each car will also be required to sell a minimum of $1000 worth of raffle tickets to friends and family prior to the weekend. These will be available from February for sale.
Registration is divided into two areas: Registration of participants; and Registration for activities.
Each Vehicle will need to register a Driver and this fee will be the main fee for the vehicle. This fee includes a t-shirt for the drivers, lanyard, large car stickers for the doors and a bumper sticker.
All other participants in that vehicle will need to be individually registered also. Registration for passengers includes a t-shirt and lanyard.
Before going to register, please make sure you have the following details for all people in your vehicle: Name, Age, T-shirt size, Dietary requirements and mobility requirements.

Friday Lunch: Visit a mixed cropping and grazing farm hosted by Billy McQueen with BBQ lunch at the Rocky Crossing Hall.
Friday night: Friday night will be a Trivia Night at the Queensland Hotel. Ticket price includes dinner and entry to the Trivia night which will be held during dinner. Adult meals will include platters on arrival and then an alternate drop of chicken schnitzel or steak. Children’s meals will be chicken nuggets and ice cream for dessert.
Saturday and Sunday Tours:
During the day on Saturday and Sunday there will be three tour options for you to select.
Please note all tours are optional. It is up to you and your passengers as to how much or how little you do on the days in town.
If booking a tour, you need to choose one per day for everyone in your vehicle.
Option 1: The Inglewood tour will take you to a cattle property outside Yerlabon and then onto Coolmunda Olives for a tour of their operation and lunch of local produce. On the way back to Goondiwindi you will visit Leven K Lavender Farm to see how lavender oil and other products are created from their lavender plants. (Lunch included.) This tour will be done in your own vehicle. Time: 9 – 3.30pm.
Option 2: The Texas Tour will take you to the Texas Rabbit factory to see where the pelts for Akubra hats come from and then onto the The Goat Rock for lunch. On the way back to Goondiwindi you will visit the Barambah Dairy farm and get to sample their locally produced cheeses. (Lunch Included.) This tour will be done in your own vehicle. Time: 9 – 3.30pm.
Option 3: SUNDAY ONLY The Goondiwindi Cotton tour will take you to a working cotton farm on the outskirts of town where you will see how cotton is grown and the history of the industry around Goondiwindi. (No lunch included.) Please Note: This tour is run on a bus supplied by the farm which may be difficult for wheelchairs. Time: 9 – 1pm.
Saturday night: Saturday night will be spent at the Goondiwindi Show. Come and experience a regional country show at its best! The Show Committee is working on special involvement opportunities for children on the drive and there will be many activities available including display pavilions, sideshow alley and food tastings. Entertainment on the night will include the Lowes Fireworks and a Rodeo to finish off the main arena program. This activity will be pay as you go.
Sunday night: Sunday night will be a relaxed evening with barefoot bowls and a BBQ at the Goondiwindi Bowls Club. Dinner will include a hamburger for adults and sausages in bread for children. Bowling is included in the ticket price. Flat soled shoes or bare feet will be required for anyone wanting to bowl. We will have presentations and draw the raffle at the end of the night.
Monday: On our return trip to Brisbane there is the option of doing a Broad acre grain farming tour at Carpendale Farm including a tour of their grain storage silos. Smoko will be included.
Please note: when booking meals, if your children would like to eat a larger adult meal, please book an adult meal for them.

Please Note: As it is Show Weekend in Goondiwindi, accommodation bookings should be made when you book for the Drive so as not to miss out on the accommodation that you would prefer.
There will be council shuttle buses running from town to the Showgrounds regularly throughout the times of the show.
