The MND and Me Foundation inaugural ‘Million Metres for MND’ Swim to support people living with Motor Neurone Disease.

Funds Raised through the Million Metres for MND swim event totalled over $165,000

What a Fantastic Event!

On Sunday October 16th, 2011 over 300 swimmers combined to swim 1,000,000 metres to raise money to help people living with Motor Neurone Disease.

With a network of volunteers organising the event a total of over $180,000 was raised for The MND and Me Foundation Ltd. Well done to all involved.

Here is the event details in numbers:

1 – The number of pools involved.

8 – The age of the youngest swimmers (x3) swimming 2km each.

42 – The amount of individuals that each swam the 10km marathon.

59 – Number of teams of 5 people swimming a combined 10km.

60 – The age of the oldest swimmer individually swimming 10km.

312 – The total number of swimmers involved.

2317 – Total number of individuals who donated to the event.

$180,000 – The total number of dollars raised by friends and families of swimmers.

1,013,000 – Total number of metres swum.

 

What a fantastic effort by all involved!
